Drag for Democracy, Virtual Bingo Extravaganza Fundraiser for LWVC
The League of Women Voters of California is hosting Drag for Democracy - Virtual Bingo Extravaganza, a joyful one‑hour virtual bingo celebrating the power of an inclusive democracy where every voice matters.
Why this matters
While Drag for Democracy is loads of fun, it is also a serious statement. Across the country, we’re seeing attempts to roll back hard‑won protections for LGBTQIA people, gut diversity initiatives in our schools and workplaces, and silence the very voices that keep our communities vibrant and our democracy thriving. While it may seem like bingo is an odd way to celebrate democracy, it is in fact a beautiful way to elevate voices and send a clear message: we will not let anyone erase our right to be who we are, and we will not back down on our fight for justice and belonging.
When and how to join
Drag for Democracy takes place on Mother’s Day weekend, Saturday, May 10, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Whether you’re celebrating with moms, chosen family, or carving out a little me time, this is the perfect way to lift your spirits and show your support, so grab your bingo cards, pour your favorite beverage, and get ready to cheer, laugh, and maybe even win some fabulous prizes.
Support the LWVC Action Fund
All ticket sales and donations from this event support the LWVC Action Fund, fueling our work in Sacramento to protect voting rights, defend reproductive freedom, advance LGBTQIA rights, fight for climate action, secure immigration protections, and more. Every dollar you give helps us hold lawmakers accountable, advocate to strengthen and protect communities in California, push back against harmful policies that threaten our communities, and strengthen diversity and voting access.
Get your tickets now, only $35.
Thank you for standing with us. Let us turn bingo into a powerful act of democracy.
Can’t make the event? Donate and support the LWVC Action Fund!

LWV Lobby for Democracy Day
April 30th marks the 100th day since President Trump took office. LWVUS staff and local League members are gathering on Capitol Hill to tell members of the United States Senate and House of Representatives to stand up for our democracy.
Clad in League attire, we will show a strong and unified presence in our nation’s capital, but we need every LWV member’s help.
In just over three months, the President has issued a series of executive orders and directed actions that violate the law and encroach upon Congress’ constitutional authority, threatening our liberties, Constitution, and democracy. Congress must protect the rule of law, defend the Constitution, and end the overreach by the executive branch of government. The League has a vital role to play.
WHEN? Wednesday, April 30, 2025, all day!
WHERE? Virtual or at your congressperson’s in-district office
This Wednesday, April 30, we urge you to:
Call the DC offices of your Members of Congress using our script to help us keep phones ringing off the hook;
Submit our action alert to your Members of Congress.

Staying Inside the 501(c)(3) Lines hosted by NonProfit Vote
Register Now
2025 brings a wave of 100,000 elections at the state and local level across the country -- and that means America's nonprofits have a golden opportunity to get their communities engaged for these historically low-turnout races. But in times as divisive as these, nonprofits NEED to know the limits of IRS 501(c)(3) regulations like the back of their proverbial hands.
Featuring 10-year IRS veteran and current practicing attorney Stephanie Robbins, "Staying Inside the Lines" is ideal for nonprofit professionals at any stage of experience in the voter engagement space. With Stephanie's help, we'll outline the basics of IRS nonpartisan activity stipulations for 501(c)(3) organizations, cover what activities may or may not run afoul of those regulations, and take some time to answer your general questions.
"Staying Inside the Lines" Webinar Panel:
Facilitator: Gwen Stembridge (Associate Director of Education & Partnerships, Nonprofit VOTE)
Panelist: Stephanie Robbins (Attorney/Partner, Harmon, Curran, Spielberg & Eisenberg, LLP)
If you're not sure you can make it to the webinar, then you'll still receive a follow-up email with a full webinar recording if you RSVP.
This webinar will be live captioned. Should you need other accommodations to access the webinar, please email info@nonprofitvote.org.
