Justice Committee Meeting

  • League of Women Voters of Marin County 4340 Redwood Highway, Suite F-133 San Rafael, CA, 94903 USA (map)

The Justice Committee meets on the second Thursday of every month. The meetings are open to anyone with an interest in immigration, criminal justice reform, gun safety, human trafficking, and human rights.

During this month’s meeting we will screen a powerful and deeply affecting documentary that tells the story of a young man from New York City who suffered profound trauma within the incarceration system, trauma that ultimately led to his death. The film also honors his mother, who passed away not long after, and features her poetry throughout the narrative. Their story and the unwavering advocacy of their community resulted in meaningful changes in the law and reforms within the carceral system. Our discussion afterward will center the lived realities of systemic injustice and the collective power of community advocacy to drive lasting reform. No RSVP necessary.
