Becky Bingea

President

Becky joined the LWV in 2014, with an interest in supporting the goals of the League, particularly in voter services; she joined the LWVMC Board in 2021. She serves as the Marin County Coordinator for VOTE411.org, the online, unbiased, nonpartisan guide for voters, produced by the League of Women Voters Education Fund.  Becky has been a Marin County resident since 1983 so, even though she grew up in suburban Minneapolis and subsequently lived in Nebraska and Montana, Marin is home. She is a member of the Northbridge & Santa Venetia Neighborhood Associations, the American Association of University Women (AAUW), and Wednesday Morning Dialogue. Becky holds a BA in Sociology, MA in Communication Sciences & Disorders, and AuD doctorate in Audiology. Although retired from clinical practice, her career in audiology spans over 40 years, where she served in leadership roles in local, state, and national organizations and authored and co-authored a number of peer-reviewed publications and delivered numerous presentations to professionals and consumers. Becky maintains close ties with family members, who unfortunately are scattered across the country, and enjoys traveling, walking, reading, Qigong Tai Chi, and spending time with friends.


Dee Dee Butori Director

In 2016, Dee Dee attended the Women’s March in Washington DC.  Shortly after that, she joined the League.  Born in San Francisco, she was raised in San Rafael. She received her BS in Sociology from Santa Clara University and her Dental Hygiene degree from Northeastern University.   In 1980, Dee Dee married Ron (teacher in Novato) and returned to Marin.  She and Ron raised two daughters.  During that time, Dee Dee was active in their schools: PTAs, Girl Scouts, soccer, and softball, serving in leadership positions.  She leads our Z-Team which coordinates our virtual (ZOOM) meetings.  Since her retirement as a dental hygienist and computer software trainer, she spends her time working at the Redwood Empire and SF/Marin food banks, working out, and playing pickleball.  And, most importantly, she loves spending time with her two grandchildren.

Laurie joined the League in 2012. She moved to Marin County from Rhode Island in 1978, armed with her worldly possessions, i.e. her records and her cat. She is the owner and Managing Principal of Shira Ridge Wealth Management, a San Rafael-based firm that specializes in Financial Planning and Investment Management. She has served as the Treasurer of the League since 2017, and in that role manages the investments as well as the financial health of the League. She is a CFP®, the proud mother of two sons and an amazing daughter-in-law, a dedicated Giants fan, and an avid traveler, reader, and hiker.

Sara Thorpe

Co-Secretary

Sara Thorpe joined the League in 2023 and the Board in 2025. Sara is actively involved with Voter Education & Outreach and the Membership Committee and assisted as a student advisor for the Student Elections Ambassador Program. During her over 40 years practicing law, Sara was an insurance coverage litigator, most recently with a nationwide firm she helped found, Nicolaides Fink Thorpe Michaelides & Sullivan. She was on the Board of First Graduate, which helps students from elementary school through college be the first in their families to graduate from college. She also supported Breast Cancer Prevention Partners, including twice climbing Mt. Shasta for the “Climb Against the Odds” to raise money for the organization’s important work. A graduate of UC Santa Barbara with a JD from the University of San Francisco, Sara has lived with her husband Richard Fike in Kentfield for over 30 years. She has two adult children who live in SF and Truckee, two dogs, and two cats. Now retired and when not busy with the League, Sara volunteers on immigration issues, hikes, swims, gardens, sews, and dances to her husband’s band, Lucky Drive.


Jackie Dagg

Director

Jackie joined the League in 2017. She served on the League’s Board for two terms beginning in 2018 and was in charge of the Voter Registration and Outreach team. She has been an active member of the Justice and Health Committees.

A native of northeastern Ohio, Jackie lived and worked in Washington, D.C. and New York City, and eventually San Rafael. The U.S. Department of Labor transferred Jackie to California in 1979. She was a Special Agent and the Western Regional Inspector General for Investigations for the department’s Office of Inspector General.

Committed to public service, Jackie remained active following her retirement: serving as a member of the Marin County Civil Grand Jury (2016-17), a poll worker on election days, a member of her neighborhood association, an investigator for departments within the Marin County government, and most recently as a member of the Working Group for Sheriff’s Oversight. She is a licensed private investigator. She is married and has two sons. She loves to cook, read, travel and spend time with her granddaughter.


Kevin Hagerty
Director

Kevin joined the League in 2014. He is a lifetime Bay Area resident; the last 34 years having lived in San Rafael. During his career, he worked for the City and County of San Francisco as Director of the Parking Authority, at the University of California, Berkeley as Manager of Transportation Planning and at BART as the Manager of their Customer Access Department.

In June 2023, Kevin was elected President of the League of Women Voters of Marin County and serves as the Co-Chairperson of its Transportation, Housing and Land Use Committee. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the Marin Coalition and is Chairman of its Program Committee.   He serves as the Vice Chairman of Transportation Authority of Marin’s (TAM) Citizen’s Oversight Committee. He serves on the Independent Oversight Committees for SMART and Regional Measure 3 (Bridge Tolls). He is the Treasurer and a member of the Steering Committee of the San Rafael Federation of Neighborhoods and serves as a Board Member and Treasurer of the Marin County Civil Grand Jury Association. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Point San Pedro Road Coalition and serves as its Treasurer.

Kevin holds an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Saint Mary’s College of California.


Vida Buchalter Harband

Vida joined the LWV in 2019 and the LWVMC Board in 2021 with a view toward voting and voters’ rights.  She has particularly enjoyed working with a group focused on the youth vote in Marin County. Vida grew up in New Jersey, moving to California in 1994 with her husband Jeff after 5 years living and working in NYC. Vida continues to work part-time as an attorney, focusing on contracts and transactional work for smaller companies. Vida has previously served on the executive committee of the local school where her children attended and is currently on the board of directors of Congregation Kol Shofar in Tiburon. She has two young adult sons and enjoys seeing them as regularly as she can.  She loves to travel, spend time friends, bike, ski and otherwise enjoy the outdoors, as well as to cook and play wine geek. Vida attended Emory University as an undergrad and Northwestern University School of Law.


Alison Howard

Director

Alison joined the League in 2010. She was born and raised in Los Angeles. Alison moved to San Francisco in 1998 with her husband, Lyman, after a few years of living in different states while he was a U.S. Naval Officer. They found that they were spending more time across the bridge in beautiful Marin County and moved to Mill Valley in 2004. Alison received her BA in Political Science from UCLA, MA in Education from Pepperdine University and MA in Political Science from the University of Oklahoma. She is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Dominican University of CA where she teaches courses on American institutions. Her research focuses on presidential rhetoric, political communicaiton, as well as art, politics, and culture. She believes strongly in promoting civic education and engagement and serving on the League’s Board allows her to combine her personal and professional interests. Alison is a volunteer at Guide Dogs for the Blind, serves on the Board of the Marin County Library Foundation and enjoys playing tennis, traveling and cooking.


Carol Inkellis

Director

Carol joined the League in 2021 with an interest in promoting voter registration and education and was quickly drafted to work on the spring and fall 2022 Candidate Forums. She earned a B.S. in human development/education from the University of Massachusetts and an M.A. in nutrition education from San Francisco State University and worked for various public health programs as a maternal and child health educator before pivoting to become a digital content editor for K-12 curricula and environmental education non-profits. Carol lives in Fairfax, where she and her husband raised their two children. Over the years she has served on school board committees and volunteered for other local nonprofit organizations. When Carol is not out hiking, walking, or spending time with her four grandchildren, you’ll probably find her reading a book.


Caroline Silverstein

Director

Caroline joined the League of Women Voters in 2024, inspired by its grassroots commitment to protecting and defending voting rights. She found that commitment clearly reflected in the local chapter’s work during the 2024 election and enjoyed volunteering in voter service activities, including researching ballot measure pros and cons. Originally from the Washington, D.C. area, Caroline moved to San Francisco in 1996 after college—falling in love with both California and a Californian, whom she married in 2002. She later returned to D.C. to earn a graduate degree from George Washington University and launched a career in government service, focusing on international scientific research initiatives. In 2005, she moved to Marin to raise her family. Caroline is the Chief Development Officer at 10,000 Degrees, a Bay Area nonprofit that supports students from low-income backgrounds to and through college. She finds deep fulfillment in connecting donors with their mission to expand educational equity. Caroline lives in San Rafael with her family and enjoys outdoor adventures with her rescue lab, Tootsie.

Cindy Wagner
Director

Cindy joined LWVMC in 2018 and the Board in 2020.  She was raised in Pennsylvania and after seven years in Washington, D.C., moved to California in 1986 and to Marin County in 1991. Shortly after retiring Cindy learned of the significant presence of human trafficking occurring in the Bay Area and discovered the LWV Justice Committee had a focus on this issue.  Being determined to join in the fight against human trafficking, Cindy joined the League.  Cindy is a member of the Voter Service Committee, Finance Committee and Justice Committee where she is a League representative to the Marin County Coalition to End Human Trafficking (MCCEHT) and participates in the Public Awareness Committee.  A graduate of Chatham College with a B.A. in Economics, Cindy spent her 30+ year career working in the insurance industry.  She held corporate management and senior executive positions at AIG and Liberty Mutual.  Cindy lives in Sausalito with husband, Ward Fulcher, and loves to sail, hike, opera/theater/the arts and travel.


Nancy Weber    Director

Nancy Weber Director

Nancy joined the League in 2019 and the Board in 2021. She is Chair of the Justice Committee and a member of the League's Voter Services, Health Committee, Observer Corp, and Novato Cohort. Nancy, a social justice advocate since her youth, is currently active in leadership roles with these organizations: Soroptimist International of the Americas (SIA) – served on local, regional, and federation level, is SIA Founder Region Membership Chair 2020-2022 with responsibility for 50+ clubs and about 1400 members, and since 2018 has been honored annually to serve as a Soroptimist delegate to the United Nations Women’s Commission on the Status of Women in New York; City of Novato - Recreation, Cultural and Community Services Commissioner; Marin County Coalition to End Human Trafficking (MCCEHT) – Public Awareness Committee and San Francisco Collaborative Against Human Trafficking (SFCAHT) – Planning Committee; Asian American Alliance of Marin (AAAM) Board of Directors; Marin Council of Chambers DEI Task Force’s Chair of United Against Hate (UAH) Committee; Novato Chamber of Commerce Business Education Committee; Not In Our Town Novato (NIOT Novato) Charter Member. Nancy has a BA in Economics from Rutgers University, is retired from PwC where she managed staff development, keeps a full schedule with advocacy work, and is often a champion for the underdog. She moved to SF after college and to Marin County about 23+ years ago since she enjoys its open space and variety of outdoor activities. Although busy, she always makes quality time for her family and 6-year-old granddaughter.


Joanne Webster

Director

Joanne joined the League in 2016. She moved to Marin from the East cost in the 1980s as a young entrepreneur and feels deeply grateful to have spent nearly 40 years working in and giving back to the community she loves. She currently serves as the President/CEO, North Bay Leadership Council. Prior to this appointment, Joanne served as President and CEO of the San Rafael Chamber of Commere for nearly 10 years. She was the Executive Director for the San Rafael Business Improvement District for a decade and owned and operated two Double Rainbow Café franchises for nearly 30 years. Joanne currently serves on several boards and committees including CA Forward - California Stewarship Network, Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership Board, Healthy Marin Partnerships, Marin’s School to Career Partnership Board, Keep Marin Working, and Sonoma Business and Agricultural Consortium. Joanne reeived her bachelor’s degree from Boston College and dropped her Boston Accent a few years after moving to California in 1985. She is an active member of the business community, winning Marin’s Small Business of the year and Spirit of Marin Awards in 1998 and 2008 and the North Bay’s Best Business Community Leader Award in 2021. Joanne lives in Marin and loves to mountain bike and hike the trails of the water shed.
