The League of North & Central San Mateo County is inviting our members to this meeting exploring the vital importance of local media to healthy local government. Local media connects community to government. Its loss leads to declines in voter and civic engagement, increases in government waste, and increased polarization. Lisa Heyamoto of the American Journalism Project and Jerry Lee, editor of the San Mateo Daily Journal team, will explore the critical role media plays in sustaining a healthy democracy. Lyn Whitley from Washington state will discuss the recently adopted LWVUS position on local media. Register here.
