There will be a planned outage of the library’s main computer system for a server upgrade on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. This outage will last for several hours, and systems could be offline for the majority of the day.
During the outage, all online library systems and services will be unavailable. Branches will be open but you will need your library card to check out.
What does this mean? All our online systems, including the catalog, library accounts, computer check-out/check-in of materials, placing holds, access to online services like ebooks, streaming movies, and online resources will be unavailable until the upgrade is completed.
Why is this happening? We're improving our technology to ensure stability and security of library data.
Will libraries be open? Yes, all branches will be open their regularly scheduled hours.
Will I be able to check out items? Yes. Please be aware that you will need to bring your physical library card or know your library card number to check out materials in our branches. There will be no way to look up your library card number. We’ll record the information manually and upload it once our computer systems are operating.
Will WiFi be available? Yes, WiFi access will be available in our branches.
Will I be able to use the library's computers to access the Internet? Yes.
Will other libraries in Marin have service? No, all libraries in Marin will be impacted. This includes San Rafael, Larkspur, Sausalito, San Anselmo, and Belvedere-Tiburon.
What else can I do to prepare? It would help if you did not return items to our branches that day. Also, please download any ebooks you want to read that day before January 11.
