The League of Women Voters of California is hosting Drag for Democracy - Virtual Bingo Extravaganza, a joyful one‑hour virtual bingo celebrating the power of an inclusive democracy where every voice matters.
Why this matters
While Drag for Democracy is loads of fun, it is also a serious statement. Across the country, we’re seeing attempts to roll back hard‑won protections for LGBTQIA people, gut diversity initiatives in our schools and workplaces, and silence the very voices that keep our communities vibrant and our democracy thriving. While it may seem like bingo is an odd way to celebrate democracy, it is in fact a beautiful way to elevate voices and send a clear message: we will not let anyone erase our right to be who we are, and we will not back down on our fight for justice and belonging.
When and how to join
Drag for Democracy takes place on Mother’s Day weekend, Saturday, May 10, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Whether you’re celebrating with moms, chosen family, or carving out a little me time, this is the perfect way to lift your spirits and show your support, so grab your bingo cards, pour your favorite beverage, and get ready to cheer, laugh, and maybe even win some fabulous prizes.
