DIA DE LOS MUERTOS, Multicultural Center of Marin — October 21 - November 4, 2023

League volunteers created an altar honoring suffragists and abolitionists as part of the Dia de los Muertos celebration hosted by the Multicultural Center of Marin.

Led by Sara Thorpe & Pat Beaupre Becker, League members Nancy Weber, Kay Noguchi and Robin Diederich all contributed to create an amazing altar — go take a look!

The altar can be viewed October 21 - November 4, 2023 at 905 4th Street, San Rafael — thank you to Crome Architecture for hosting our altar!

Our League cohosted several events on Tuesday, September 19th to celebrate National Voter Registration Day ! Marin Civic Center from 10am - 2pm (2 tables), Marin City (outside Target) 4-7pm and Libraries throughout Marin County!

Naturalization Ceremony — September 2023

On Sept 13, 2023 our League participated in the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Bureau’s naturalization ceremony at Point Reyes National Seashore. 38 immigrants were sworn in from 22 nations and became newly eligible voters. As the participants entered the area, it was a thrill to announce, “Now you can register to vote!”

Thank you to Danny Straub, of the Marin County Elections Department, who assisted us in registering new citizens onsite and to Christine Beekman, M.Ed., Lead and Public Information Officer of the Point Reyes National Seashore for organizing a day to remember. Event press release HERE


MARIN COUNTY SENIOR FAIR - September 2023

Thank you to Linda, Regina and all of our League volunteers who staffed our table at the Marin County Senior Fair this year - we gave away lots of voter info, LWV membership info, treats & a handmade quilt (lottery)!

It was great to participate in this great event after several years off due to the pandemic!

Our 2022 Vote Early Day Event at Oakmont of Novato was well-received!

We shared information on how to vote early in Marin County with the Voter’s Choice Act !

Our Pros & Cons Team was a collaboration between LWV of Marin County, LWV of Sonoma County, Dominican University & Sonoma State University. The team researched the 7 CA State Propositions and then created the Pros & Cons ( see format HERE ) to produce the Power Point and recordings used in presentations to various organizations in Marin & Sonoma Counties.
