Managing the election process in Marin
In the aftermath of the 2000 election, Ann Layzer decided to put together a slideshow, using photos she had taken of elections department operations behind the scenes. She thought that people needed reassurance that, at least in our county, the integrity of votes people cast were effectively protected. This slideshow is always a work in progress, with photos added if I think that they contribute to an understanding of how the system works, and old photos replaced by new ones of higher quality or greater interest.
On election night, along with two members of the Civil Grand Jury and some other members of the League of Women Voters Board, Ann will be an official observer of the election process at 8:00 pm, when the polls close. She has used this access to the scene behind the scenes to take photos that show how the system protects the votes cast.
Here is the link to her slideshow. Feel free to ask me questions about it.
