Coordination Among Local Governments
Support of coordination among local governmental jurisdictions in Marin County, including cities, special districts, and school districts, to ensure the sharing of services wherever possible to achieve cost effectiveness, maintenance, and improvement of services, and accountability and responsiveness while preserving community identity.
Objectives of this position:
- To combine services to the greatest extent possible, not excluding ultimate structural merger/consolidation of cities, special districts, or school districts according to Local Agency Formation Commission guidelines and objectives.
- To emphasize cities as the chief purveyors of services in the urban corridor.
- To provide more than the minimum legal requirements for public notification in order to encourage public participation.
- To consolidate services for school districts with a move toward merger of school districts.
